Officially ours

We completed all of our province paperwork this morning. Zoe is legally ours. We're on a lunch break now but are going to go to the Walmart in Nanchang this afternoon. Zoe was a great sleeper last night. She fell asleep at 7:30pm, had about a 1/2 hour wake up at 11:45 and then slept until we woke her up at 6am. I have a feeling that was a fluke. She's doing better with the bottle and just took some rice cereal with a spoon. I think she thought the spoon was really cool. Still no #2 (which those in adoption world know is important) but I have suppositories on stand by for tomorrow if need be. Since she liked the spoon, I may try to give her some prunes tonight. We had to give her some Tylenol cough and cold today as most of the babies have a cold. No fever though which is good and I'm trying to get it under control so it doesn't spread to her ears. She had her first bath with us today....she's not a fan. She is loving the Stacking cups though and right now she is listening very contently to a Chinese lullaby CD. I think right now she is fighting a nap. She slept during our appointments this morning. On an aside, of all the wonderful things the Chinese do well...air conditioning isn't one of them. Seriously, it's miserablely hot and humid in the buildings. Our hotel room is also a bit warmer than we'd like. We're going to crank that AC this summer at home.

Nanchang is definitely different than Beijing. While Beijing just felt like any other large city, Nanchang really makes us realize we're in China. In Beijing there is so much construction and a lot of things are in English so you kind of forget you're in China. You can't do that in Nanchang. Oh, one really interesting thing we've noticed...all of the maniquins (sp?) are of Caucasian people, even the ones selling traditional Chinese ware. Anyway, I'll try to post more pictures tomorrow. This is such an amazing, wonderful, (stressful at times) experience. It's amazing how quickly you can fall in love.

Kristi,
Thank you for all the great information. It feels like you are leading us right to our Ava and letting us know what we should be getting ready for next.

Also check to make sure Zoe isn't teething, sometimes teething will give kids the runny noses and stuff, I just mention it because I know in the arsonol of meds you have to have some Ambisol for her gums. :) Just a thought though, I know that you and Eric are doing a great job and that you've probably already thought of that as a possiblity.

Thanks again and We are so incredibly happy for you both.

So happy to hear she slept through the night with just one short intermission. I will keep my fingers crossed that Zoe continues to sleep through the night!! I hope the Tylenol helps her out. Thanks so much for sharing all your experiences so we can follow and heed your warnings. Enjoy your daughter and falling in love more and more each day!! You are both great and will do wonderful!

Kristi and Eric,
Congratulations on Zoe!!! She looks adorable. We can't wait to meet her.

Thanks for all the realistic info you've been passing along. You've made me rethink the whole shoe thing! Everything seems so much more real now (how's that for bad English?!) reading your story. It's hard to believe it's only a couple of weeks away for the rest of us. Thanks for paving the way!

Hopefully Zoe will continue to be a great sleeper for you. Good luck with the prunes!

yeah - so happy you're one step closer on the official route. Thanks for keeping us updated. Can't wait to see some more pictures. Did you take the rice cereal with you or is that something you bought when you got the formula? Should we bother bringing formula with us? Sorry for questions on blog but we think we'll be on our way right as you get back or just before so asking questions while you bring up things that make me think of them. Also, have you got to the spot yet where you have handed over all the cash? What denominations did you take the legal fees money in? Don't worry too much about number 2 - I have heard that sometimes it's quite normal for babies to not poop for 2-4 days at a time at this age. In fact, our friends who came here yesterday and are staying with us have a 9 month old and said that at 8 months they sometimes can go a week without pooping. I am not sure if you are also giving her water from the bottle as well as formula, but getting her to drink will probably help move things a long. Uggh - not looking forward to the poor air conditioning - I hate to be hot at night. Thanks for sharing all your news. We are so happy for all of you and your family. Love, Mel & David

Just having a blast watching the two of you make your way through China. It actually make me feel like this process is real. For the last two years I have been looking at pictures of strangers in China. Well my god I have broken bread with these two world travelers. The pics of you two with Zoe are absolutely priceless. Hey Eric how have the CoolMax shirts been working out for you. I am pretty much planning on living in these thing for a few weeks. You obviously are looking "Cool" but to you feel cool - ha.
